Liz* ~ Procrastinator Extraordinaire

Sloppy Firsts - Megan McCafferty “When you say too much about anything important, it always ends up sounding more trivial than it is. Words trash it.” All right, then. I'll be brief.Yes, it's chick lit. But even though this could be a superficial narrative about teenage drama and a simple description of the many insecurities a sixteen years old girl has, it really gets deeper. Jessica is the kind of girl I'd have loved to be in highschool if I hadn't been such coward and I'd tried to speak my mind. She is funny (smart-ass, witty funny, my kind of funny), intelligent, awkward, and kind of depressed about missing her friend. That's something I can't relate, though. I've never depended on somebody like she does on Hope. She thinks about stuff, a lot. And overthink everything. And while she's struggling to keep a healthy level of insanity, people around her helps her to find herself (as cheesy as it sounds).I love Marcus and the way he evolves in front of us. I miss Hope too (for real). I love Jessica's voice. “You can only be in a bad mood for so long before you have to face up to the fact that it isn't a bad mood at all; it's just your sucky personality.” ******************************"He held out his hand. "Deal?"I hesitated. He reached for my hand. We shook on it, skin on skin. Yes .Then a lightning bolt shot straight through my skivvies. Sha-ZAM!"******************************“Am I the only creature with a vagina who thinks that weddings are ridiculous? I'm going to elope. Just me, my hubby, and a minister on a beach in Jamaica.” And I think Megan McCafferty did a really great job. I need the second book!
